Exploring Eight: An Under-the-Radar Asian Spot in Lower Parel

I had heard about Eight for a while, but it wasn’t until a recent event at Julius that it caught my eye again.

The opportunity to finally visit arose when I found myself in Lower Parel for some work, and I decided it was the perfect time to experience it for myself.

A quantitative review of my experience at Gong

  • Drinks Included: No
  • Cuisine: Pan-Asian
  • Sub-cuisine: Pan-Asian
  • Locality: Lower Parel, Mumbai
  • Price per Person: ₹1733
  • Food: 5/5
  • Service: 5/5
  • Ambience: 3/5
  • Repeat Value: No

Summary

Eight is a spot worth checking out at least once, especially for its inviting ambience and initial charm. The food is tasty, and they do a good job of delivering those classic Asian flavours. But honestly, despite how good everything looked, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The prices felt about 25% higher than what I thought the taste and quality justified. The atmosphere is great, but when you weigh it against the cost, it doesn’t quite balance out.

Another thing that stood out was the menu. Sure, there were plenty of items to choose from, but it lacked those unique, must-try dishes that make you want to come back for more. Everything felt a bit too standard, without any real standout options. So, while Eight has its positives, given the price and the lack of memorable dishes, it’s not somewhere I’d be rushing back to anytime soon.

Should you Visit Eight?

Eight offers a lovely ambience and well-prepared dishes, but the high prices and lack of standout menu items make it a one-time visit for me. While it’s worth experiencing once, there are better options out there for the price. If you’re looking for something more unique, you might want to explore other spots.
