Why Namma is a Must-Try for South Indian Breakfast Fans

One day, while exploring the bylanes near my home, I came across Namma, a South Indian restaurant that caught my eye with its appealing ambience and attractive signage. A few days later, during Ganesh festivities when I was sticking to a vegetarian diet, I decided to stop by for a meal. Namma delivered quality food at a great price, and it’s now on my list for South Indian breakfast. However, there’s some room for improvement in their dosas, especially when it comes to thickness, crispiness, and warmth.

What I tried

Benne Dosa at Namma

Benne Dosa: 3/5

The dosa lacked crispiness on the outside and was too thick on the inside.

Ghee Roast Dosa at Namma

Ghee Roast Dosa: 4/5

This wasn’t your typical Ghee Roast; it had podi inside, but it was still delicious.

Rava Onion Dosa at Namma

Rava Onion Dosa: 4/5

The flavours were excellent, though the batter was too thick and lacked crispiness.

Rasam Vada at Namma

Rasam Vada: 4/5

The vadas could have been a bit crispier, but the rasam was spot on.

Mangalore Buns at Namma

Mangalore Buns: 5/5

These buns were perfectly balanced—soft, crispy, sweet, and savory all at once.

Goli Baje at Namma

Goli Baje: 5/5

They were wonderfully soft and flaky on the inside, with a satisfying crispy crunch in every bite.

Filter Coffee at Namma

Filter Coffee: 5/5

It was a well balanced treat to end the meal, the ratio of milk, sugar and coffee was perfect.
